Welcome to Minot YP

Welcome to the home of Young Professionals of Minot. We're excited about this growing network. We are a group of young professionals, ages 21-39, living and working in Minot and the surrounding areas, who want you engaged in Minot!

Preston Phillips
Congrats to Preston Phillips, our YP of the month!

Where are you working & what do you do there?:

I am a Commercial Loan Officer with First International Bank & Trust. I started 5 years ago as an intern during my final semester of college. I work a lot with entrepreneurs and Young Professionals who are looking to finance a new business or expand an existing one. Being a part of their success has been very rewarding to me.

Tell us about your family:

My father Brian works as a Conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad and my mother Debbie is a Mortgage Associate at Town & Country Credit Union. I also have two younger sisters, Paige & Miriah, all of whom reside in Minot.

Why are you a YP member and how are you involved within YP?:

As Young Professionals we are the future of this community and YP is a strong instrument in which to develop our skills to best serve this community as well as network with other professionals who strive for the same. I currently serve as the co-chair of the Young Professionals Social Team.

Are you involved with any other clubs or groups in Minot?:

I am an active member of the Minot Y's Men's club which helps raise money to support the Triangle Y Youth Summer Camp. I am involved with the Independent Community Banks of North Dakota Emerging Leaders program. I am also a member of the Minot Curling Club and Minot Country Club.

What is your favorite thing to do in Minot?:

As an avid outdoorsman I would have to say the hunting activities that are available in Minot and the surrounding area are some of my favorite things to do. Whether upland hunting pheasants or decoying waterfowl it is easy for us to take our "backyard" for granted. Passing hunters with license plates from several states away puts into perspective how great it is to have this available to us on a daily basis.

What if your biggest dream/goal?:

I hope to be able to further grow my career while adding value to the people around me and this community.

What are your favorite movies or what type of music do you listen to?:

If it isn't on Netflix I probably have not seen it. Lately I have been getting addicted to different TV series and often find myself saying "Alright, one more episode before I do something productive.".... Which roughly translated means 5 more episodes.

What's your favorite Restaurant?:

Ebenezer's would have to be my go to restaurant and if you're man enough I dare you to try their "Fat Frog" sandwich.

The household chore I enjoy/despise doing the most is?:

Cleaning bathrooms!... I don't think there is any amount of money I wouldn't pay for someone to do this for me.

On a Friday night you'll find me.. :

Most likely at a lake whether it be ice fishing during the winter or boating during the summer.
